Day 49

Day 49: Happy St. Patty’s day everyone!!

St. paty's day mani 2013

Gosh, I feel like I used so many colors for this manicure.

I definitely used OPI My Vampire is Buff as the base color. For the light green I used OPI Who The Shrek Are You. The darker green is OPI Your Palapa Or Mine?  (ulta exclusive). The gold is OPI Gift of Gold, and the rainbow I used OPI Dutch Ya Just Love OPI? (purple), OPI Suzi’s Hungary Again (pink), OPI Can’t Find My Czechbook (blue), and Pop Sunny (yellow).

The lines were created with an ultra thin striping brush that I purchased from Sally Beauty supply and the clovers were created with my dotting tool (has to be the ultimate nail artist must have) and the rainbow was created with a small brush.

Oh! I also used Hard Candy Matte-Ly In Love for my ring finger to give OPI Your Palapa Or Mine? a matte finish. I let the hard candy dry for a couple of minutes and then I took a piece of paper folded in half to make quilt dents in my nail. It is a little hard to see in this picture, but you want to be very gentle because you don’t want to slip an rip the paint off of your nail, but you really want to make a dent. If you only slightly make dents then the polish can come back together and you won’t see the quilting for very long. It is important to find that in between time where the lacquer is hardening, but still soft enough to make dents.

Happy polishing!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!

In the spirit of the holiday I decked my nails in green and gold. The green I used was Jade is The New Black and the gold was from OPI’s India collection, Curry Up Don’t Be Late!

I thought about doing something a little fancier, but I painted my nails as quickly as I could and ran out the door for work.  Thanks to OPI Drip Dry, they dried quickly and I was out the door to work without messing it up!

OPI has a great collection of greens.  Here are some that I have in my collection.

OPI Who The Shrek Are You!

Love this color by OPI.  Its super bright and fun. It is more of a yellow-green that is perfect for spring and looks great with OPI Black Shatter.

OPI Green-Wich Village

Another bright green is Green-Wich Village This also looks great under Black Shatter. Here are some swatches.

OPI Here Today...Aragon Tomorrow

My last is this dark, dark green.  I have been eyeing this one for a while. I finally had the guts to just buy it, but I had to…Because if it was there today…it would have been “Aragon” tomorrow, literally…(Lame, I know). Anyways, no special occasion necessary to wear this one.  Love it.

That’s all today. Happy St. Patty’s Day everyone! Have fun and be safe!

Happy polishing!
