Day 47

Day 47: China Glaze Snap My Dragon and Color Club Kismet
color club kismet

I have a friend that is a true believer in “kismet”, fate or destiny, so I had to get this color from color club. I have had my on color club halo hues and last week I finally decided to just buy them. The consistency is a little thick, but it doesn’t really affect the application of this lacquer. The holo effect is AMAZING. The picture isn’t the best, I just wanted to show the holo hue.

China Glaze Snap My Dragon is pinkish red from the avant garden collection. The application is smooth but I think I jumped the gun on the second coat since I got a couple if bubbles after it dried.

Dots were created with OPI Black Onyx with a dotting tool again. It was just a simple design. I was planning on duplicating the nails from Oz the Great and Powerful that Rachel Weisz had, but my fiancé surprised me with dinner reservations tonight (which we are on the way too right now. <3)

Happy Polishing!

Whew! What a New Year celebration. I just wanted to share with you guys the mani I did to ring in the new year. It wasn’t anything related to the new year, it was just on my list of “manicures to try”.

So  I started out with OPI’s Nicki Manaj Collection, Fly

I apologize for the color not being accurate. I’ve tried playing with the settings on my camera, but I just couldn’t quite capture the right color. But if you happen to come across this color I do recommend you get it. The color is stunning and fun. It is a great cream to add to the collection.

Next I used OPI Designer De Better from the Muppets Collection. Take a drop of your second color on a piece of paper, and using your dotting tool make random dots along your nail like so…You can do it all over the nail or on part of the nail like I did, however you want really, just make sure they aren’t TOO spaced out.

Next take a third color (I used OPI Black Onyx) and place drop on the paper. Using a thin brush make random marks around the dots.**Thanks to the bf for taking an “action shot” for me** And it should look like this. And really that’s it. The lines around the dot don’t have to be perfect. I’ve also added a few more random spots around the nail for a little more character. But experiment with other colors and have fun with it. If it isn’t perfect don’t worry about it, rock it. One last picture.

Happy polishing!

It’s my year to shine through!!

This manicure is a little old, but thought I should share it with you guys anyways.

Some of the nail art that I do here on this blog is pretty easy. This one is easy, but a little time consuming (especially if you are as picky as I am). This manicure requires some scotch tape, scissors, and two nail colors of your choice. For this manicure I used OPI This is my year and OPI Black Onyx.

Here is OPI This is My Year. I love this color. It is very similar to OPI Rally Pretty Pink. In that it has a duo chrome effect with gold and purple/pink hue respectively.

At this angle you can see the intense purple hue.

Straight on you see more of the gold hue, which is my favorite part of these two colors.

Next, take your scissors and cut into thin wedges like the picture above. Count as many as you want, the more the better I think.

Place your tape wedges on your nail like so. I know it is a little hard to see the tape on the color, but if you click on the picture to enlarge, the detail you will be able t see the arrangement on the tape.

I did a messy job, but oh well. Just paint over the paint and wait for it to dry. Peel off the tape and voila!

This was my first stab at this manicure so It doesn’t look that good. But as I went along I got a little better at it. Here is the final look.

I don’t think I did a very good job on this manicure. This blog is where I got the idea from, and she does a much better job. It’s worth a try if you have time, but don’t be afraid to try other designs.

Happy polishing.
